Unpackaged, London
When Unpackaged, a local London organic grocery store, asked us to launch their landmark shop, we jumped at the chance.Unpackaged is the first shop to ask its customers to bring their own packaging. We secured written strong support from Ken Livingstone, Jonathan Dimbleby, Joan Ruddock, and Liam Black. We then asked Sian Berry, Mayoral Candidate for the Green Party, to open Unpackaged, by cutting through 213 plastic bags, which had been wrapped around the shop. This is the average number of bags the average Londoner goes through every week! The launch was a massive media hit, with BBC Breakfast News, CBS Weekend News, Channel 5 News, The Independent, The Guardian, The Observer, Evening Standard, Daily Express, Metro, Capital Radio, BBC Radio London, PM on Radio 4, Radio Romania, thelondonpaper, The Islington Gazette, The Islington Tribune, Packaging News, BBC London News, and Design Week among those covering the story. Not bad for a local organic grocery store!
