FLT films
global tolerance was honoured to be hired by FLT Films to launch the film 'The Imam and the Pastor', the story of Imam Mohammed Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye. The faith leaders once led warring militias against each other in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. In pitched battles, Pastor James lost his hand and Imam Ashafa’s two cousins and spiritual mentor were killed.Right Honourable John Battle MP, the (previous) Prime Minister’s envoy to the faith communities, launched the film at the House of Commons. Commenting on their jorney from being sworn enemies to running the Interfaith Mediation Centre in Kaduna together, John Battle said ‘Their personal and interconnected stories are a positive template for our times.’The photo of Imam Ashafa and Pastor James at our media call outside Parliament, taken by Simon Clark of Eyebox, implausibly captures the light of reconciliation and hope between the two faith leaders. A positive template for our times, indeed.
